Netra Vidalaka (Herbal Paste Application Around the Eyes)
Cools, soothes, and revitalizes the eyes through external herbal paste application
Description
Netra Vidalaka is a classical Ayurvedic external eye therapy aimed at cooling, soothing, and revitalizing the delicate tissues around the eyes. The term Vidalaka refers to the application of a medicated herbal paste around the eyes, particularly over the eyelids and periorbital area, leaving the eyelashes and eyeballs untouched.
In this procedure, a paste made from Chakshushya (eye-nourishing) and Pitta-pacifying herbs is prepared using rose water, herbal decoction, or medicated ghee. The paste is gently applied in a uniform layer around the eyes and allowed to remain for a specific duration. The cooling and anti-inflammatory properties of the herbs help reduce burning, redness, and swelling while rejuvenating the surrounding tissues.
Netra Vidalaka is especially beneficial in conditions caused by excess Pitta or heat in the eyes and is an excellent therapy for those experiencing strain from continuous visual activity, pollution, or lack of sleep.
