Yoni Dhupana (Vaginal Fumigation Therapy for Purification and Protection)

Description

Yoni Dhupana is a classical Ayurveda fumigation therapy performed to purify, disinfect, and rejuvenate the vaginal and reproductive region. The term Dhupana refers to fumigation or smoke therapy using medicinal herbs and resins. In this procedure, aromatic and antimicrobial herbs are ignited to produce therapeutic smoke, which is directed towards the vaginal and perineal area for a specific duration.

This therapy is especially beneficial for women experiencing vaginal infections, itching, abnormal discharge, or foul odour. The herbal fumes help eliminate harmful microorganisms, reduce inflammation, and restore the balance of Apana Vata and Pitta doshas. It also promotes local circulation, enhances tone, and imparts freshness and natural fragrance to the intimate area.

Common herbs used in Yoni Dhupana include Guggulu, Haridra (Turmeric), Neem, Lodhra, Nimba patra, Vacha, Camphor, and Ghee. These substances possess cleansing, antiseptic, deodorizing, and rejuvenating properties. The therapy is often used after Yoni Dhawana (cleansing) or post-delivery to support healing and prevent infections.
