Anuvasana Basti (Oil-Based Enema for Nourishment and Rejuvenation)
Deeply Lubricating Therapy to Balance Vata, Strengthen the Colon, and Rejuvenate Tissues
Description
Anuvasana Basti is a classical Ayurvedic oil-based enema therapy used for nourishing, lubricating, and pacifying aggravated Vata dosha, especially in the colon and nervous system. This therapy is most effective in cases of dryness, weakness, fatigue, constipation, and degenerative conditions linked to Vata imbalance.
In this procedure, a specially prepared herbal oil or combination of different lipids (70–100 ml) is gently introduced into the colon in the evening, after a light meal. The oil remains in the colon for 6–8 hours, during which it gets gradually absorbed into the tissues, lubricates internal linings, supports neurological health, and improves gut flora. A small portion may be expelled later in the night, which is a normal part of the process.
