Shirodhara (Continuous Stream of Oil on the Forehead)
Achieve a total sense of balance with the flow of natural oil on the forehead
Description
Shirodhara is a distinctive Ayurvedic treatment designed to calm the mind and relax the central nervous system. In this therapy, a continuous flow of Ayurvedic herbal oils or therapeutic liquids is applied to the forehead. A metal vessel, known as a patra, is suspended directly above the forehead. The oil is poured into the vessel which flows through a hole, drenching the center of the subject's forehead, also referred to as the "third eye." This classical treatment is maintained at a specific rhythmic speed, which helps activate and awaken the third eye. The treatment has the potential to initiate miraculous healing.
Shirodhara is typically performed after a Head Abhyanga or Whole Body Abhyanga (massage).
Note: This treatment leaves the head oily, so it is recommended to protect your clothing. During colder months, please bring a cap or scarf to keep your head warm after the therapy.
