Baluka (Sand) Pinda Sveda
Hot sand bolus therapy for localized detoxification and weight reduction
Description
Baluka Pinda Sveda is a dry type of Svedana (sudation) performed on localized areas of the body. In this process, hot sand with herbs is prepared and wrapped into a bolus, which is then applied in a rhythmic, hammering motion to the affected area after an oil massage. This technique is effective in relieving heaviness and is specially beneficial for weight reduction by dislodging and digesting localized Ama (toxins).
Svedana is designed to induce sweating, which occurs through the hair follicles and fat tissues of the body. Steam plays an important role in this treatment regimen, as it dilates the cells and bodily channels, allowing toxins to be mobilized and expelled. As a result, the digestive fire (Agni) is stimulated, aiding in the breakdown and removal of Ama. Svedana also helps regulate the body's water metabolism. The use of various herbs enhances detoxification and provides specific therapeutic benefits.
