Pada Snana (Foot Bath)
Invigorate the feet with water, herbs, stones, flowers, and oils
Description
Pada Snana is typically performed after foot Abhyanga (massage). A herbal decoction is prepared, and the feet are immersed in a warm tub. This foot bath is highly effective for cleansing and rejuvenating the feet and has a refreshing impact on the entire body. It helps to calm down the nerve endings present at the feet, which sends calming and relaxing signals to the brain, bringing forth a state of intense relaxation.
Svedana is a therapeutic process designed to induce sweating through the hair follicles. Steam plays an important role in this treatment by dilating the body's cells and channels, allowing toxins to be mobilized and expelled. As a result, the body's digestive fire (Agni) is stimulated, facilitating the breakdown and elimination of Ama (toxins). The use of various herbs enhances detoxification and provides specific benefits.
