Patra Pinda Sveda (Herbal Leaf Bolus Sudation)
Herbal leaf bolus therapy especially beneficial for neurological conditions
Description
Patra Pinda Sveda involves the use of a mixture of herbal leaves that are finely chopped, wrapped into a bolus after being lightly fried with oils on a pan. The bolus is applied to the body using a rhythmic, hammering and rubbing motion on specific body parts while being reheated regularly to maintain warmth. This therapy is given after Part Abhyanga (localized massage) or Full Body Massage.
Svedana is designed to induce sweating, which occurs through the hair follicles and fat tissues of the body. Steam is a key element in this process, as it dilates the body's cells and channels, allowing toxins to be mobilized and expelled. As a result, the body's digestive fire (Agni) is stimulated, facilitating the breakdown and elimination of Ama (toxins). Svedana also aids in regulating the body's water flow. The use of various herbs enhances detoxification and provides specific therapeutic benefits.
This procedure is specially beneficial in neurological conditions.
