Salvana (Salt) Pinda Sveda
Hot salt bolus therapy for fluid retention relief and joint pain
Description
Salvana Pinda Sveda is a dry type of Svedana (sudation) performed on localized areas. In this process, a bolus of hot salt with herbs is prepared, which is then applied in a rhythmic, hammering motion to the desired body part after an oil massage. This technique is especially effective for reducing fluid and water retention, and for relieving joint or muscle pain.
Svedana is designed to induce sweating, which occurs through the hair follicles and fat tissues of the body. Steam plays an important role in the treatment regime, as it dilates the cells and bodily channels, allowing toxins to be mobilized and expelled. As a result, the digestive fire (Agni) increases, facilitating the collection and elimination of Ama (toxins). Svedana also helps regulate the flow of fluids in the body. The use of different herbs further enhances detoxification and provides specific therapeutic benefits.
